The curtains shown are the Amara Linen Curtains – Elegant Light Filtering Drapes , designed to softly filter natural light while adding timeless texture to your space.
The curtain rod installation method demonstrated in the video is also suitable for all rods available in our Accessories Collection , making this guide easy to follow no matter which hardware style you choose.
1. Use a Laser Level to Make Sure Your Rod Is Perfectly Straight
Start by holding your curtain rod up where you want it to go. Use a laser level to ensure the rod will be perfectly level. This small step makes a big difference — nothing looks more off than slightly crooked hardware.
2. Measure & Mark Based on Your Curtain Size
Measure your curtain length and width before you start.
- Height: Decide how high you want your rod mounted. (Pro tip: mounting it higher makes your ceilings look taller.)
- Width: Your rod should extend several inches past each side of the window frame so your curtains can stack nicely when open.
Mark your drill spots clearly with a pencil.
3. Check for Studs
Use a stud finder to see if there are studs behind your marked spots. If you find studs, you’ll have extra-strong support for your hardware.
4–6. No Studs? No Problem — Install Drywall Anchors
If your marked spots don’t land on studs, drywall anchors will give you the support you need.
- Pre-drill holes using a properly sized drill bit.
- Drill straight and steady where you previously marked.
- Gently tap the drywall anchors into place with a hammer until they sit flush with the wall.
(If you do have studs, you can skip steps 4–6.)
7. Attach the Hardware
Now it’s time to hang your brackets.
Use a screwdriver to drive the screws into the anchors (or directly into the studs if you’ve found them). Make sure everything feels secure before placing your curtain rod.
8. For a More Professional & Elegant Look, Hang the Rod Higher
Want your space to feel more polished and elevated? Mount the curtain rod right below the ceiling instead of directly above the window frame. This quick trick instantly makes your windows look bigger and your room more sophisticated.
Curtain installation doesn’t have to be stressful. Just measure carefully, take your time, and follow the steps. You’ll be amazed at how much of a difference it makes!
