Inside Mount vs. Outside Mount
Which One Should I Choose?
Before measuring, decide whether you'd like your shades installed inside or outside the window frame.
Choose Inside Mount If...
Ideal for homeowners who:
①. Prefer a built-in look
②. Want to showcase decorative trim and molding
③. Have sufficient window depth④. Plan to layer shades with curtains or drapery
Things To Consider：
①. Small light gaps may be visible along the sides of the shade.
②. Uneven window frames may make these gaps more noticeable.
③. Certain products require minimum window depth for installation.
Choose Outside Mount If...
Ideal for homeowners who:
①. Want maximum privacy and light control
②. Have shallow window frames③. Need to cover uneven or irregular windows
④. Want windows to appear larger and taller.
Things To Consider：
①. Shades will extend beyond the window frame.
②. Additional wall space may be required around the window.

For most homes, an Inside Mount provides a clean, customized appearance.
Measuring for Inside Mount Shades
Step 1: Measure Width:
Measure the inside width of the window frame at three locations: Top, Middle, Bottom. Record the narrowest measurement.

Please enter the exact window opening width when placing your order.
To ensure smooth operation and proper installation, the finished shade width will be manufactured with a small deduction from the ordered width to provide the necessary clearance between the shade and the window frame.
This is standard industry practice for custom shades.
Step 2: Measure Height:
Measure the inside width of the window frame at three locations: Top, Middle, Bottom. Record the narrowest measurement.
Step 3: Measure Window Depth:
Measure from the front edge of the window frame to the glass.
Record the smallest depth measurement.
Window depth is especially important for inside-mounted shades and varies by product style.

Measuring for Outside Mount Shades
Step 1: Measure Width:
Measure the total area you would like the shade to cover.
For improved privacy and light control, we recommend extending the shade beyond the window opening.
Recommended Width Coverage：
· Add 3"–6" to the window width.
Step 2: Measure Height:
Measure from your desired mounting position to your desired ending position.
Recommended Height Coverage:
· Roman Shades: Extend the shade 5"–8" above the window opening whenever possible for improved appearance and coverage.
· Roller Shades: - Extend the shade 4"–6" above the window opening whenever possible.
Special Considerations for Roman Shades
Check Window Handles & Locks:
Ensure handles, locks, and cranks do not interfere with the shade when fully lowered.
Consider Stack Height:
When raised, Roman Shades remain partially stacked at the top of the window. Depending on the shade size and fabric style, approximately 8"–10" of stacked fabric may remain visible, partially covering the upper portion of the glass.
Special Considerations for Roller Shades
Understand Light Gaps:
Ensure handles, locks, and cranks do not interfere with the shade when fully lowered.
For Maximum Light Blocking:
Consider: Outside Mount installation, Light Blockers, Blackout fabric options.
