Care Guide for Polyester, Cotton, Linen & Blend Curtains
Monthly Shaking
To prevent dust from settling into the fibers, gently shake your curtains once a month. This simple ritual keeps the fabric breathable and vibrant without the need for frequent washing.
Rainy Season Care
In humid months or rainy seasons, ensure adequate air circulation around your window treatments. Use a dehumidifier or gently open windows on dry days to prevent moisture buildup in linen and cotton fibers.
Standard Washing Procedures
1. Pre-Wash Preparation: Remove hooks and check the care label. High-linen fabrics: dry clean only. Separate light and dark panels to prevent color transfer.
2. Water Temperature & Detergent: Cold or lukewarm water (≤30°C) with mild neutral detergent only. No laundry powder, bleach, color brighteners, or strong alkaline cleaners.
3. Machine Washing: Place curtains in an oversized mesh laundry bag. Gentle/wool cycle, low spin (≤800 RPM). Fill drum to half capacity max. Avoid intense agitation; do not soak longer than 15 minutes.
4. Local Stain Treatment: For oil, juice, and other stains, apply neutral detergent directly to the stain and let sit 5 minutes before washing. Do not rub dry.
Drying & Reshaping
Avoid direct sunlight during drying; hang curtains vertically in cool, shaded, well-ventilated spaces, as UV rays yellow linen, degrade polyester and trigger irreversible fading. While the fabric remains slightly damp, gently stretch its edges in all directions to offset natural shrinkage in cotton-linen blends, and refrain from hard wringing or squeezing that permanently warps the curtain’s shape. Only rehang curtains on tracks once fully dry, since damp fabric easily grows mold and leaves permanent water stains.
Ironing for Wrinkle Removal
Iron temperature: low to medium heat (230–302°F / 110–150°C). A garment steamer with steam function is the optimal choice. If dry ironing is required, lay a thin cotton cloth between the iron and fabric to avoid shiny iron marks.Iron along the fabric weave grain; do not rub back and forth repeatedly. For blackout-coated curtains, iron only the fabric side to prevent damage to the light-blocking coating.
